Lonely as a Cloud...

A good friend shared this with me last week, to ease my nerves. It worked.

DAFFODILS

I WANDER'D lonely as a cloud
That floats on high o'er vales and hills,
When all at once I saw a crowd,
A host, of golden daffodils;
Beside the lake, beneath the trees,
Fluttering and dancing in the breeze.

Continuous as the stars that shine
And twinkle on the Milky Way,
They stretch'd in never-ending line
Along the margin of a bay:
Ten thousand saw I at a glance,
Tossing their heads in sprightly dance.

The waves beside them danced; but they
Out-did the sparkling waves in glee:
A poet could not but be gay,
In such a jocund company:
I gazed—and gazed—but little thought
What wealth the show to me had brought:

For oft, when on my couch I lie
In vacant or in pensive mood,
They flash upon that inward eye
Which is the bliss of solitude;
And then my heart with pleasure fills,
And dances with the daffodils.

From nowhere to somewhere

Found, I've found myself, home. Los Angeles swallowed me whole for four years, beamed my brightest moments across the globe and projected my millimeter dreams into reality. LA sent me around the world and back and back and back and back and this is only the beginning. I give this summer of thanks to my parents. What a wild world they brought me into.

LaLaLaLondon

...Last week was a wild ride! There were so many moments I had to pinch myself - my purpose was suddenly to race around London and explore what makes the city so vibrant and exciting. I couldn't believe life landed me there- on a Tuesday afternoon - with a camera and a new friend. It felt like our adventures took us around the world already because of London's beautiful diversity. We shared a lot of WOW moments and in 72 hours explored LONDON like mad.

Wow: The architecture of this city is in-cre-di-ble...grand...and weighted with the World's History
Wow: When Bryony Hannah (Best Performance), Keira Knightley, Ellen Burstyn & Elisabeth Moss took the stage in "The Children's Hour" at the Comedy Theatre
Wow: OMG Alert: The BEATLES recording studio and Abbey Road
Wow: The little restaurant from the film Notting Hill
Wow: When I sat down next to Sienna Miller for a slice of English pizza
Wow: The lighting of Parliament & the Cathedrals at night was a photographers dream
Wow: BANKSY's graffiti
Wow: Fish & Chips with an old friend along the River Thames in the middle of the night
Wow: Hilarious old men wandering around train stations
Wow: Seeing "LES MISERABLES" at the Queen's Theatre

Let's just say I slept about 7 hours last week.

London was Lovely.

Back in LA now. Back to the streets I know best. Back to the reality of graduating University life in one month. Back and listening to ELO. Back to spending the dollar! Hoping the best for the competition. Huge thanks to STA for the glimpse of adventure last week...

aaand...WOW.

Newsflash: London is huge! Yesterday, I flew around the city on an open air red double decker bus, jaw dropped at the weight of the history of it all. Royalty stuff & THE beatles. Spontaneously went to Keira Knightleys play "The Children's Hour"..ran into Sienna Miller at dinner..went to Les Miserables at the Queens Theatre..went to Chinatown...then hung out with some inline skaters at Trafalgar Square come nightfall..and spent the late hours near Parliment. Today I hit up Camden market, Notting Hill, Clapham Junction across the Thames, a nightwalk along the river pub crawl. I've met beautiful stories, I've heard beautiful people tell them. I cannot wait to return to the U.K. I feel awe-struck. And as I sit here in a bright room in the middle of a night that my country has not yet experienced, I listen to funny international kids weep "I believe I can Fly" into a drunken microphone here at the hostel in Russell Square...hilarious. I feel I got a lot out of the last three days. Big days, fun footage. Hope you like! More to come Monday!

BIG LOVE from LONDON.

Love from London

London is a great place to be. It's diverse. open. free-minded. colorful. hilarious. awkward. posh. intellectual. forward thinking. fast. safe. CHEAP, not. comfortable. oh! And everyone is in LOVE, its ridiculous. its lovely to be around. This is a country I would like to explore for months on end...find the country side and someday adventure down to South End on Sea to visit my grandmothers childhood home. It has been the best beginning. My travel partner, Jessica, and I have had a hilarious time so far. Great laughs - Keep them coming! Wish I had more time to run around Europe, since I am here. But I gotta get back to LA to graduate!!

More soon! Tomorrow I'll hit up the double deckers to find myself in this cities centers. Hopefully I can find some street performers and dance/sing with them. My travel video will go live on STA [http://www.worldtravelerinternship.com/] next Monday, April 11, 2011.

Goodnight from London,
Shannon
